Sony RX10III Experimenting with Digital Zoom

Today, I couldn't find much of interest to shoot so I decided to try out the digital zoom feature on the camera. The camera has three optional zoom settings: optical zoom; clearimage zoom; and digital zoom. Although I've had the camera for over a year I've not tried these features before now. Shots were hand held, uncropped and brightened in PSE14. Statue was approximately 1.25 miles (2 Km) from my location.
Opitical Zoom Only @ 600mm/35mm Equiv.

Digital Zoom 4 X 600mm

This is NOT a good subject for this experiment ! -as well as hand holding ! - but at least you are trying to use some of the Sony built in features. Your experiment needs a tripod, and a detailed subject MUCH closer. I use and recommend Clear Image Zoom - no pixel loss - but you must optimize your native image qualities.
