No, not cocoa! I love the the 15 yr. old tennis Phenom! She's been around for a while - ranked as the top female Jr for over a year, but now she's playing the "big women" and so far succeeding. GO COCO!!! You are an absolute joy in my life!
I've "religiously followed tennis since I was introduced to it by my Uncle when I was 11. Ken Rosewall, John Newcomb, Margaret Court, Stan Smith, ... were among my first heroes. Now, Roger Federer, Raphael Nadal, Simone Halep, Serena, ...
Anxiously awaiting Coco (and all the others) in the 3rd & 4th round matches. I record the entire sessions and watch later with my wife while zipping through the commercials.
If you are watching, send some good energy to your favorites,
Mark
Note: I downloaded the images from the internet. Wish they were mine!
Yes, she has been a pleasant and fascinating surprise. She is in the opposite bracket from Serena.

I agree, she's a breath of fresh air. Our Ash Barty is a similar example. Worked very hard to get up there & both show very humble down to earth characteristics. None of the crap that our two men are displaying currently. They're an embarrassment to Australia.
But yes, I think we'll be seeing lots more of Coco. Beautiful girl.

Another observation. She has long legs & arms, must be an advantage.
I heard a saying: She has a reach like a sick dog. Meant in humour?

Very happy that our young American players are starting to show some strength!

Interesting idiom. I have heard “sick as a dog”, but never that one.
OTOH since my dog threw up on the carpet the other day I might get it.
I am sure it was meant in a positive way.
I did find this: 'you've got a reach like a sick dog' Aussie for don't reach over someone at the dinner table.”
For the US women, I see a bright future but for the men, there is no one on the horizon to bring US men's tennis to its prior heights.

Yes, and while the Williams sisters have been her idols, her demeanor certainly is opposite theirs (especially Serena), which makes it all the more pleasant!

From my Facebook page, after I'd watched most of the match.
Corrie GAUFF (The new rising star in the tennis game) is through to the 2nd week. A good lesson in perseverance as she was on the verge of going out.
A set and 5-2 down, all Polona HERCOG had to do was show up - but realising new balls were being introduced she made a belated change of racquet and lost her momentum right there and then!
Next week will be a big step for her, but she has the maturity to see good fortune and make the most of it.
Nice shots, although I don't follow sports.
