Slavery existed under British rule prior to the existence of this country. What is lost in the conversation is whether or not the Revolution and the Constitution set into motion changes that would eventually lead to the abolition of slavery. Point being....despite being born during a time of slavery, was America and the American Flag and what they stood for responsible for the end of slavery? Perhaps the fact that union soldiers gave their lives under the banner of that flag for the purpose of ending slavery, carrying all the ideals of the Founding Fathers (despite the fact that they, too may have owned slaves!!) and the Constitution into battle as they gave life and limb....for freedom for all. Kaepernick doesn't get it and he doesn't get this country. Nike doesn't either.

P.S. This is not to excuse racial injustices that have occurred since the end of slavery and still occur. They exist despite the values of our nation and Constitution, not because of it.

He seems to have gotten the "Betsy Ross" Nike shoe nixed. Apparently he has more sway than some of us think he should have.

When he was on the 49ers his own teammates didn't like him. No surprise he's being so petty about the Betsy Ross shoe.

You make a very riveting point, SteveR. Someone should clue Kaeperdick in on that point...if you look at it from the right angle, it looks like he is insulting himself when he disrespects our flag!

And the Governor of Az. immediately rescinded all of the benefits that Nike would have gotten as incentives to open a production factory near Phoenix, Az.

Yea, I know, but when you look at it, that is really petty and juvenile to complain about a flag on a shoe that represents the original 13 colonies.

It's a bit surreal that Nike is subservient to a hasbeen/neverwas quarterback...

Very true.
What Kapernick doesn’t understand is the flag of this nation still represents the thirteen colonies by its thirteen red and whites stripes, He’s still a dumb ass in my opinion.
