I have the opportunity to purchase a Microtek Scan Maker i900. Anyone have any thoughts or advise?

When scanners come up on UHH, the usual response is to recommend one of the Epson models.

You are correct when it comes to flatbed scanners that are capable of scanning film. Epson rules. Some dedicated film scanners can give better results. I don't know anything about the scanner the OP is asking about, but I wanted to clarify what you said, if that's okay.
