This is a Promaster Spectrum 7 1.4X optical extender for the Sony/Minolta A-mount. It is a quality 5 element design and shows the correct computed f-stop on my A99 and there is no gear reduction on the focus drive so it is fast (1:1). I have only used it with the Tamron 300 f2.8 lens. I decided to break down and get the 1.4X Minolta APO extender. These 5-element 1.4's for the A-mount are quite scarce today ! Comes with front and rear caps. And. just so you know, the Minolta APO extenders will only fit the Minolta/Sony APO lenses AND the Tamron 300 2.8 due to physical size.
CONDITION: EXC - no known issues - worked great with 300 2.8 Tamron on my A99.
$65 shipped to lower 48 U.S. - PayPal preferred.
Thanks for stopping by Sony fans ! .......Larry

Looks like a nice one, will do someone well.
Thanks for the link ! - It has been quite awhile since I attended this web page .....8-)
Any thought about whether or not this 1.4x will work with the EA4 adaptor with the Tamron 200-500 (A-mount) lens?

I heard somewhere, but cannot verify, that telextenders do not play nicely with zoom lenses. Can anyone out there confirm or idisprove that nugget of info?

IMO, (I cannot verify or prove this - but experienced common sense tells me) the major manufacturers - at least up until this point in time, have always deigned and optimized their tele-extenders to go with their 300mm f2.8 prime lenses. Most zoom lenses ( a very general statement), optically, are far removed from a 300mm prime and consequently they are handicapped when used with OEM extenders.
I will tell you, the Sigma 100-300 f4 is one of the BEST zooms to work with extenders ! - my experience.
Ideally, an extender will be optically designed and dedicated for a single unique lens - as in the case of the Canon 200-400 and Nikon 180-400 zooms.
