Butterfly and ???

First shot is a butterfly that was lying on the patio. I'm not sure if it was dead or just resting since it didn't move while I was photographing it.

Second shot is of some unknown insect that got into the house and interrupted my breakfast. I just had to stop eating and go grab my camera and get a quick shot before my Thai host shooed it off. Said it was a wasp and very dangerous although I have never seen a wasp that looks like this.

That is commonly referred to as a clearwing hummingbird moth. Totally harmless.

Thanks for the info. I had never seen one of these before but I knew it couldn't be a wasp but I didn't want to offend my host.

The hummingbird moth is quite a unique capture. I've never seen a shot of one resting.
