Chaco Canyon New Mexico

spent the past few days in and around Chaco Canyon , New Mexico, night sky was fabulous! The buildings were constructed something like 1000 to 1200 years ago.
It isn't the easiest place to get to but well worth the journey.

Great photos. I can't help but wonder if the night sky would be so bright if the man had not been shining his flashlight into the sky.
The inside of the structure was better than I anticipated. It is amazing that these buildings are still standing and could most likely be used still while homes built today are often relics and falling apart when 50 years old.

It is a very interesting place, nice dark sky, new moon,,, the flashlight added zero to the apparent brightness of the milky way though. I went there with the idea that I could shoot some of the ruins with the night sky in frame However to do so requires a permit and fee for the overtime pay of personel to accompany . the structures themselves have been dug out in many areas as the years of blowing sand covers things up.
