A sliding tackle is not in itself foul play; however, there are a number of fouls that commonly occur during the execution of a sliding tackle.
Examples of such fouls punishable by a direct free kick or penalty kick include:
When a player in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:
kicks or attempts to kick an opponent;
trips or attempts to trip an opponent;
jumps at an opponent;
charges an opponent;
tackles an opponent.
How would you call this....foul or no foul?

I'd want to see the trajectory of each player, which one was on a straight line and which veered in?
But then I don't know anything about soccer.
Both players were in a straight line moving directly at the camera. The defender successfully tackled the ball but also tackled the attacker.
Looks like a 50-50 ball and the tackler got there first. I shoot women's pro soccer and, even though the refs stink most of the time, I see this play all the time and it's never called a foul.
I see a lot of fouls at the professional level that are not called....this is amateur. These guys don't get paid for taking those chances, they have to go to work on Monday morning.
Besides, I just found out this morning that the blue team was using illegal players in this semi-final match and now have forfeited their win. The green team goes to the finals next Sunday.
The tackler would not be wise to preform that same tackle in the penalty area. Nice series of photographs!
