I would recommend you contact Mt Shooter here on UHH. He owns a camera store and can help you with both the gimbal and the tripod. You can find him via the member search and then send a private message

I also recommend going to a camera store and see what's available and let someone who is knowledgeable guide you. You will need to have a couple of things in mind before going. First, do you want something small and light for hiking / travel or something more sturdy for use around home / studio or when the car is near the shoot? The second thing is what's your price range? If you want something that works, is stable, and will last, expect to spend at least $300 for a decent travel tripod and at least $500 for a heavier duty tripod, but more like $750. If you want a good birding rig with a decent gimbal head, expect more like a $grand. With tripods, especially with ball heads, you get what you pay for.

If you are not using your rig to shoot low light stationary subjects @ over 400mm, and you are not trekking miles with it, I think this will work OK for you -

READ the user reviews.....

But, you will not impress anyone with the amount of money you spent or the name brand .

Do a 'search' here on UHH and you'll find that this has been answered 100's of times.

The UHH search function can leave a lot to be desired.

According to Really Right Stuff (RRS), one of the premier tripod and tripod head manufacturers, the longest focal length lens you use is a primary factor in choosing a tripod and head. This makes sense because stability is much more important for a 600mm lens than for a 200mm lens--the movement of an image across the sensor from any vibration (shutter shock or wind) will be three times as large for the larger lens, and the larger lens will also be much more subject to movement by the wind. So if you mount your 150-600mm lens on a cheap tripod with poor dampening, a significant number of your 600mm photos will, unfortunately, be blurry--not because of the camera; not because of the lens; because of the tripod. Note also that cheap tripod heads make it difficult or impossible to hold the lens in a fixed position because, depending on the mounting point and the angle of the camera/lens to horizontal, the torque on the tripod head may see considerable.

The Slik tripod is great. Sturdy, tough and reliable. And a LOT less than the posters are talking about. Of course you can go with RRS and bask in the glory of all the praise you will get from all the wannabes.

Ask yourself, ”If I have spent thousands on a camera, the same amount or more for lenses, then thousands on a dream trip, do I really want to trust all that on a cheap tripod?”
