Hi All Am on my way to a new project. I have had a new fascination with swamps, of the constructive sort that is. I am always looking for moody and engulfing swamps and what can be added or removed to get them into the fantasy I would like to see. I have worked up roughly six out of the twenty or so for a book and presentation file. I am showing all who would care to look at one of those today. This may take awhile. But thanks for looking and if you will, give me your thoughts on this project. RBorud

Great richness. I would suggest moving the bird down and to the right, placing its head in the area just above the present body. Let's us see it more clearly. Also, the stray white "snakey thing" above the rear bird's head is confusing to me.

Overall though-it moves me a lot.

If it was mine I'd desaturate green a bit, in particular the yellow-green near the centre. If you're looking for moody, vivid green and yellow will go against that. If you're worried about it becoming colourless you could ramp up the ambers and browns, but it probably doesn't need it.

Place your thumb over the bird and see if the photo of the swamp looks better. My first reaction was that it was a photo of a bird and needed a lot of cropping.

I prefer the image as an 8.5 x 11, cropping the right side. The composition works better for me with regard to the egret's position in an overall composition. Kind of conflicted about the photo as is.

Swamps are challenging and you have met the challenge well! Thanks for sharing.

The good news, I really like this image. The bad news, for me, it doesn't come across as an image of a swampy area.

I respond as another who does a lot of photography in the swamps and who has recently acquired a swamp of my own.

This is a lovely swamp image. The recurring triangle motif holds the composition together almost without our realizing it. And of course I appreciate the lone egret. The images I shoot that aren't about swamps are mostly about egrets. The colors, though they are clearly edited for presentation, are not out of the range of the norm for swamps, which offer a wide variety of colors ranging from dull to almost garish in springtime.

I would consider eliminating the whitish pronged objects (and reflection) just left of the bird's head, I think they hinder full appreciation of the egret.

A worthy project, hope you will share more of your images from it. I'm working on an exhibit of swamp images for the state science museum for 2020, and I'd love to see how you're approaching yours.
