I had a short flight on this craft last summer.

Check out the space between the seats!

Very nice set! It is clear that today's airlines would not allow that seat space to remain.

You're right, production started in 1925 and ended in 1933. The one in the photo was built in 1929 and was known as the Tin Goose It was originally a mail plane then became the first passenger plane. It carried ten people and to the best of my knowledge never lost any of them!

Great photos. This plane was at the airport in Idaho Falls, ID but I was unable to take a look at it. I did see it flying over my house a few times. It sounds like a Harley to me. Beautiful aircraft. I am glad you got to see it and take a ride. I love the older aircraft with radial engines.

Today, they'd put 4 seats where Ford put 2.

This particular plane was the first plane of Pitcarin Airline which became Eastern Airlines. It was reduced to junk in 1973. Took the current owners twelve years to restore it.

Good memory. I took a ride in the same plane a couple of years ago. Sat in the second seat from the front on the left side.

Was that at "Willow Run" Airport in Belleville Michigan? Do they offer rides to the Public? I live 1 hour north of Belleville, Michigan.

It was at a small airport in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. As I understand it you can follow the Ford Tri-Motor on line and book rides through the sponsor of the air show. The flight is certainly worth the price.

We use to live in Missoula, MT and Johnson Flying Service use these as Smoke Jumper aircraft for the Forest Service, My Brother was a smoke jumper and jumped out of the Ford Tri Motor in 1957.
