I have finally got some photos of my hummers at my feeder. Please c/c on them. Thank you so much for taking the time to view the photos. Dee

Very good shots. Are you using a tripod, flash and remote? I took the following shots at lunch just standing by the feeder and trying to catch one near it. No flash, tripod or remote. Also not the best focus, but I hope to improve when my remote arrives.

Hi Susie, These were hand held, no flash, leaning against a doorjam. I probably spend 2 hrs. waiting for and taking photos of these little guys. Dee

How did you get that stop action on the wings in the first photo with no flash? That's amazing! Was your shutter speed set really high?

Yes, it's lightweight, easy to use, and no need to fumble in your photo bag for it. Works for me!

Very nice shots. You have some males still. Our males all seem to have left already. Still several females around, but it won't be long and they will leave too.

Our experience has been that the males come first in the spring, usually around the last week in April. We won't see any females for a couple of weeks after that. Then it reverses in the late summer and fall. I haven't researched it to see if there is any real pattern or if it is just what we see here in NE Ct. They are a challenge to photograph. I have some from almost every day and I keep trying to get really good ones. Yours are very sharp.
