I've been around for a while...reading comments and criticism...being too afraid to post pics as I see pics that I think are AMAZING get criticized. But...I figured if I'm going to get better...I need to start letting people other than my friends look at my work and give me constructive criticism.

Over the last few months a few of my friends have let me do photoshoots of them. Each one is better than the last based on things I've learned from these forums...or from previous shoots. Tell me what you think? Hopefully this is the appropriate forum.

Color good, lighting not bad at all.... BUTTTT, the pose in #1 and 3 are sorta arkward... The model just dosen't have a "relaxful" look about her...
#4, The focus should be on her, not the flowers.... or actuall, probably both...

Hey !, the more you shoot, the more you learn... Keep going.....

I agree with the awkward posing in 1 and 3. We are (both) working on that with her. It was her first shoot and she was really nervous. Thanks for your input!

And as far as #4...I do have 1 where the focus is on her. I'll post that one as well.

I love #1. Beautiful shot and lady. #2 I really like the sun on her face and the lighting, but based on the fierce and powerful shot above it, I want to see her powerful again!

Photography is an art and highly opinionated. I think it's good that you are getting opinions, but I hope that you always stick to your vision and what's in your heart. :)

Nice portraits. I like the last two the best. With such blue eyes, they need to be the focal point of the photo and both well-lit ( just my opinion - you'll get lots of opinions on this site!)

What equipment do you use?

I think that #1 and #4 are the best. The pose in 1 is a little akward, but professionally done. Maybe a crop would appeal better?

Nikon D3100. It was one of my first shoots. And I could not figure out how to get more of a sharper focus on her eyes. But it is one of my goals to learn how to get better at that.

Nice camera. I also use Nikon. As much as a pain as it is, read the camera manual and it will hopefully explain your different focusing options. Can also manual focus or use higher f/stop to get more in focus.

I really like #1. Try to keep the camera level. Look like the model is going up hill.

I had the same fear, but everyone on this website is so helpful. Their wish is to see us get better. The willingness of those who are professionals and those with great experience to take the time to tutor us is invaluable. And those who are in the same boat so to speak give great support and encouragement. Keep posting!
