I know there are not many here on the hog using full frame A-mount. Those that are, I wonder what the GOOD opinions are for 20-24mm prime or zoom range that are AFFORDABLE ($500 or less used). I just moved to the A99 and currently use the older Tamron SP 20-40 f2.7-3.5 which seems pretty good to me. I would like to think the Sigma 24mm 2.8 prime super wide II is a viable lens ??

Thanks for your help, ....Larry

Check out https://www.dyxum.com/lenses/index.asp.

If it's out there, they'll probably know about it.

Sigma made a 10-20mm lens for A-mount but it is designed for the crop sensor. You should able to use a setting for "35mm equivalent" on your camera which should help.

I have the a99m2 also. Found a lens that l just love using. It is a wide angle 10 - 18 full frame made by Sigma. Was on the B&H website and seen this lens. At first l did not know if l wanted it do to the fish eye effect. Went to the local camera store in the area they had the lens and after a few shots at different lens lengths the photos turned out great. Amazingly no fisheye effect was found. Could not wait for B&H purchased it from my local camera shop.

Sigma primes are beautiful lenses. I call my 24 mm ART my Milky Way lens.

Sigma gave up Sony A-mount LONG ago - and now, we see Tamron following....

I just looked at B&H and they have 3 used Sony 20mm f/2.8 under $500.

If I'm reading this right, aside from price, this might give some things to consider.

Consider looking at the Minolta af 20mm f2.8 and 24mm f2.8.

I have the Sony 28-75/2.8 that I got to use with my 850 body. It is an outstanding lens, and the one that I leave on the camera as a 'standard/walk around' lens.l'm at this point dithering between the A99xx or one of the 7s.I really enjoy using the multiple-axis screen on the A77s, so the 7s tilting screen is limited. Age and mobility issues came into play here!

I have this lens and I like it a lot. Also have the Tamron 15-30mm which is even better, but not under $500.

The Rokinon 24mm f1.4 is really good too.

I have used all these on the Sony A99. But I sold it and now use them on the Sony A7iii.

Remember the 7's use an E mount and the 99xx use an A mount lens. You can interchanger the lens but you have to purchase a lens mount adopter from E mount to A mount. These adapters could be expensive so this is another point you have to think about also when you finally decide what you want to do.

I have a Samyang 24mm f/1.4 manual focus and manual aperture that I bought from B&H about a year ago. It is in perfect shape, barely used, if you are interested.

I would be willing to part with it because I bought a Tamron 15-30mm with auto focus and aperture.
