Just wondering where fellow hogs find their favorite places to do street photography.
I don’t need a dissertation or crass comments, just good world places to do street work.

Anywhere where people are relaxed. Like street fairs, parades, lots tourists etc.
Personally I found Paris, France to be a gold mine.

The New Orleans French Quarter. It is the mecca for street photographers.

I really don’t like being direct, but it seems lately some of our inquiries have become fodder for some ”members” to be condescending with comments and jabs aimed at us amateurs wanting constructive advise to improve our techniques and experiences.
In my opinion, if you can’t give constructive advice and comments, get off our forum!

I’m not going to point fingers, just want this site to be positive, not abusive!

Teacher22 - Nobody, nobody, not one person has responded to you in a condescending or abusive fashion in this post. Will you please explain why you interrupted your own post to make an unnecessary complaint? UHH members, RichardTaylor and PAR4DCR are both nice, respectful people. They each offered a valid, on-point response. Where was the condescension?

I find China Town in any city a great place to do street photography.

Since there are only two comments before you made this one, what didn't you like about the two suggestions?

"Anywhere where people are relaxed. Like street fairs, parades, lots tourists etc."
Very true.
Did you infer the second line to be a suggestion to go to Paris? It was an example.

"The New Orleans French Quarter. It is the mecca for street photographers."
Interpreted as "Tourist Spots". Another example, not "Go to New Orleans."

Or were you explicitly looking for responses to be locations in Texas?

I'm confused also.

LOL no one was a jerk, until you were ... maybe you can help clean out the community by taking your own constructive advice? With such a pleasing personality when meeting strangers, maybe you should consider a different genre of photography ...

I would like to do street photography as a I live in New York City. But I'm a little afraid of the negative experiences by other unsuspecting people walking around. I'm afraid people will become hostile. So I haven't ventured there.

How do you know how people will react until you give a try? Start in your own neighborhood. Build your confidence. Conquer your fear.

Ahh, Teacher, why didn't you stop with your first post? With this one you come across as unjustifiably confrontational.

Your question is interesting. I'll chalk up your ill-considered second post to a lapse of judgment. I hope for no more backlash and an interesting on-topic discussion...

Actually I might suggest more WHEN versus WHERE. When I travel I like to get up early and hit the street. Catch shops opening up, setting stuff out; streets and sidewalks being cleaned; people rushing to work, grabbing a coffee or snack, etc. In the hustle & bustle of morning they seldom glance my way. Then evening, right around twilight, because there is both natural light plus colored lights coming on, and same scurrying makes people too busy to notice.

Small villages way off the tourist beaten path in Mexico, at least 100 miles off.
Very friendly, especially if you know the language and fun to be around.
This should work in other areas like Colombia etc.
Otherwise I don't know with the way Americans are here.
I guess asking permission would work. Here I always do ask especially if children are involved. Perhaps with a woman taking photos it might not be as much of an issue.
Over all I like small communities as large urban areas for me seem rather worn out.
