Still haven't gotten it down pat, but, I'm having fun.

Hope you enjoy.

And that is half the fun.

For #2, expose for the sky to prevent blow out and use processing to selectively open shadows on the foreground. Or a Graduated neutral density filter when shot to bring down the sky 3 stops to allow proper foreground exposure.

I have taken three panorama shots with as many as 6 pictures and as few as two. So far two of the three came out pretty well. One of them I must have moved my camera a couple of times because it would not match up.

I used Microsoft's ICE software and find it is pretty simple because I have not tried anything but basics. It is fun to try and the effort can be very rewarding. Good luck with your trials.

Thanks for the helpful hints, but this day was most unusual...I was in a hurry for
an appointment, so I left home without my camera. All I had was my cell phone,
and when I opened up it's camera app, I noticed "Pano" so I figured what the
heck...all of the ones above were done on the cell phone.

That said, the other thing I ROUTINELY forget, is my ND filter...lol.

Here are a couple take with the camera.

How wide an angle on the Empire State Building?

Not a wide angle lens, Longshadow. Used the standard "kit" lens, 18-135mm on a crop body, so
even if at 18mm, it would be apx. 30mm...

That image was created with a total of four images stitched together in Photoshop Elements 2019.

Hope that helps.

It does seem a little much. It usually happens more with WIDE angle lenses.

Still a neat shot!

I'm glad you like that one, Longshadow. I'm still learning how to
"stitch" images together, but it's becoming obvious to me that I
really have to pay more attention to keeping each image on the
same level as well as trying to make sure each individual panel
gets the same exposure...

I usually meter on "left, right, center" and see what the average would be, and set it manually so all exposures are the same. Seems to work well.

(Bubble level on tripod, hand held is harder. )

The best advise I ever got about pianos was from Scott Kelby. I have used his technique for a number of years now with great results. Usually I shot with 50 mm using portrait mode, overlap by 20 % and move laterally a foot after every shot. Has worked great so far.
