Windham Junction

There is a small town about 10 miles from where I live in New Hampshire. It is called Windham. The area I was at is called Windham Junction, so named because it was the intersection of a railroad junction. I won't go into details of where it went to and from, but in 1886 George Seavey built a Victorian mansion, overlooking his thriving sawmill and cider businesses. Over the years, the barn was converted to a general store, serving the area that was known as Main Street. (Very original name...) With a farm across the street, many people made the general store a destination. It stayed that way until 2006 when they added "The Kitchen," open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The 2 dining rooms hold a total of 7 tables. The food is cooked by chef Jon, a graduate of the Johnson and Wales Culinary Institute.
I found the food to be excellent, and enough of it to satisfy. (I started eating and then took a picture.) I hope you like what you see. The general store is small but they have a nice array of goods for sale.

Wow Longshadow, this is a quick response. Thank you. This really isn't a town, just a way stop in a town. But quite quaint. I am so glad you liked the images.

Hi photophile, like you, I also enjoy out of the way places. And our GPS took us totally through the back roads, about 40 minutes. Had we gone the more direct route, it would have taken about 25 minutes. But the extra time was well worth it. Most of the roads here are about 30mph. And I go just that so even I can see the sights. If a car is behind us, I pull over to let them (and all other cars) pass. I am in no hurry...LOL. This destination was a "spur of the moment thing," but we were so pleased with the results.
Thanks for looking and commenting.

These kinds of places always attract me the most as they are the REAL DEAL historically and all the local folks hang-out and chat with you when you stop by and eat with them.

Just a great day for anyone in America just passing through and getting some photos along the way.

Nice Work.

Thanks Blair, glad you liked...Yes these places attract me also. And yes, I always talk to the people there to find out about the place and area. These images were shot using an I-phone6. I think they turned out pretty good.
