Richmond Va. photos
Be in Richmond for a week any suggestions for photo ops. Tks for your help.
The state capitol, inside and out.
Richmond National Battlefield Park
I lived in Richmond for 22 years. Definitely visit Maymont Park. There's the Italian Garden, Japanese garden, mansion, nature center, petting zoo, raptors. I've gotten great pictures in the Italian Garden and Japanese Garden as well as the waterfall.
As was mentioned above, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is excellent. Visit the renovated Main Street train station in Shockoe Bottom.
Visit the Tredegar Iron Works. It produced cannons during the Civil War. The American Civil War Museum is in there now. The have many photos of Richmond during the Civil War. It's very interesting.
When you're at the Tredegar Iron Works, you'll be just 1/4 mile from a foot bridge that crosses over the James River to Belle Isle. There's a road that runs along the rapids of the James River and circles Belle Isle. Belle Isle is historic. There was a prisoner camp there during the Civil War. I used to walk around Belle Isle a lot.
Take the Riverfront Canal Cruise in the Shockoe Slip area. That's a great place for night photos.
Visit the Old Pump House (1708 Pump House Drive Richmond, VA). It's a Victorian Gothic treasure that is located in the Byrd Park area. There's actually a dance area on the upper floor that was open on the sides. Starting in the 1890's they would have dancing there.
While I was still living in Richmond they excavated the notorious Lumpkin Slave Jail. It was also known as "the Devil's half acre". It was a slave holding facility. They found a lot of artifacts that they put in a museum.
The Hollywood Cemetery also has a lot of Richmond and Virginia specific history.
don't miss the art museum. It is worth a visit if only for the outdoor glass sculpture! Chilhoully, I am.sure that spelling is wrong!

The museum also has a great restaurant on the top floor, Amuse.
Nearby is Monument Avenue, with imposing statutes of Confederate heroes, if you're into such memorials. Tennis great Arthur Ashe too, who was born in Richmond.
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g60893-d278375-Reviews-Monument_Avenue-Richmond_Virginia.htmlAs mentioned Maymont Park is a great location.
About 50 minutes southeast of Richmond is Colonial Williamsburg, a place rife with photo opportunities and worth a visit if you have the time.
I live here. Definitely Maymont, Lewis Ginger and Shockley Bottom. If you venture South the Petersburg National Battlefield, Blandford Church and cemetery. Blandford Church has original Tiffany stained glass windows that are priceless. Google it for more info, Petersburg is 30 miles or less from Richmond. Have fun.
I forgot Colonial Williamsburg.

I like the Old Town area of Petersburg. It's like going back in time. If power lines were not there, you would think you were back in the 1800's.

I would add Agecroft Hall to the list especially if you like Tudor architecture.
https://www.agecrofthall.org/ Depending on when you are there, you may also be able to see the reenactment of Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty or death" at St John's church where it happened.
https://www.historicstjohnschurch.org/liberty-or-death-reenactments You could also consider visiting the Confederate White House. Maymont is not to be missed in my opinion. Hollywood Cemetery is the burial site of presidents James Monroe and John Tyler as well as Confederate President Jefferson Davis. The canal boat ride was also neat.

I saw the Patrick Henry "Give me liberty or death" reenactment there. It was excellent. The actors sat in the audience with everyone else. They really let each other have it - some really turbulent exchanges between the actors sometimes. I wanted to see it again sometime.
I live in Richmond, and you did an excellent job of answering the question.
Lived here all my life and had have a ball visiting a lot of the places that you listed.
