Firmware update on K3

I tried to update my K3 firmware. Followed all the steps and downloaded the update to my memory card.
Per instructions I used a 32 gig card. When that didn’t work I saw a post that suggested using a 16 gig card. I tried that also. After I download the firmware the cards show that what I got was titled DCIM, not the fwdc220b.bin that was supposed to be there. When I installed them in the camera it didn’t install an update. It didn’t do anything. I even tried clicking on the DCIM to see if it would open. No!
If you have any info please post it and maybe send me a private message. Thank you. EdR

Did you follow the instructions from here?

The file has to be unzipped and the bin file placed in the root directory of the SD card.

The DCIM folder or directory is the name for nearly any image file holder or a devise, be it camera, smartphone, scanner, etc. That is where the file you are looking for, or need, is. You need to put the fwdc220b.bin file on a blank SD or CF card. Do be careful not to interrupt the firmware update or allow the power to fail in your camera. Damaged firmware is like a corrupted BIOS in your computer, serious business. So if you are unsure of yourself, have your camera updated by a camera repair shop. It is actually easy to do yourself if you fully understand. I've done it twice myself; to a K-3 and to a K-5.

Thank you. I quit last night and started again this AM. I did follow those directions. Not sure how I got the DCIM unzipped but I did. I am now updated.👍
