Recommendations for a Photoshop course?

I am a self taught Photoshop user who has reached my limit. I can kind of work with layers, kind of do color corrections, kind of do cut and paste without a blend line kind of do a lot of things. I don't have the knowledge to integrate those and so many Photoshop functions. Yes I know there is tons of help on Facebook, many online PS training courses listed on google. Can anyone recommend a beginning through advanced PS course that you have taken. I'm willing to spend money for something that works but taking 'pot luck' from google is reckless and a potential waste of money.

Deke McClelland has some great ps courses from start to finish. He is on lynda.com. about 36 hours of NPR movies. With a local library account you should be able to access for free. Otherwise it's about 35 dollars a month.

You do not have a location listed, so I will recommend a local Community College that might offer a Photoshop class, or a Camera Store with an educational component.

Also, if you have an action in PS that is stumbling you, a targeted YouTube search will lead to specific videos. I learned how to use the Lasso tool with content aware fill to remove unwanted objects that way. Now, it is a major part of my workflow.

For physical reasons has to be online or in a small venue. We have a local camera club, maybe I should start there.

I second Steve's suggestion of lynda.com (I get free through my library). I haven't taken PS specifically, but the video courses I did browse were very well put together, including each chapter being short and easy to return to and reference. There's even text accompaniment you can copy/paste to a doc.

I went with Phlearn -- Photoshop 101, 201, and 301. This really opened up Photoshop to me. There are a lot of excellent products that plugin to Photoshop, and once I became familiar with the ways of Photoshop, itself, I could understand what these products were doing, and why and when it made sense for me to use them.

Lynda.com has been very clear when I dipped into it for specific needs.

I am right now in the middle of Ben Wilmore’s Photoshop Complete Guide, and find his teaching style to be very good. He provides many practice images to use and assigns homework with each lesson. I’d previously completed his Lightroom training and am now very comfortable with that product. His courses are on Creative Live.

One of the resources I've used is Ben Willmore. His Master's Academy (yearly subscription) contains videos from start to finish on Photoshop. He goes from the basic Photoshop course, to taking each section of PS and explaining what/how to get the desired effect. He puts out a new video about once a month, but if you join, you have access to all his videos. He's also recorded some courses for CreativeLive. Good Luck, there's always something new to learn about PS. Bev

Thanks all.

The problem with Lynda.com is they are now part of LinkedIn which I tried for a month and found it wasn't what I was looking for.

Gonna' look at all of the suggestions and pick one.

Check out this link for Adobe PS on YouTube. It has a lot of topic specific tutorials for using PS. A lot of them are by Julieanne Kost, who is the Digital Imaging Evangelist Director for Adobe. I have watched many of her Lightroom tutorials and found them quite helpful, as are her PS tips as well.

Good Luck.
