About 7 or 8 months ago I wrote about displaying my almost 8,000 pics of mostly birds, but some critters too. I was thinking of mounting some kind of display equal to a computer monitor and somehow rotating randomly. Lots of suggestions.
What I finally did, updated my Apple TV to the latest model, high end HDMI cable, Made an album on my Mac called TV BIRDS and selected that as my screen saver. It worked well on my Samsung 49” LCD TV, but not the same quality as my Mac, which was what I was after. I looked into the OLED tv’s, but they didn’t seem completely ready for troublefree consumer use, so waited.
The 2019 models have just been released with glowing reviews from all sources, so I bit the bullet. It arrived yesterday, and I just installed it. Set it up, switched to my Apple TV, and sat back with a huge smile on my face. Outstanding, quite unbelievable details. After almost an hour, there were still a couple of small stickers on the bottom of the screen, so went to remove them. When I did, I found out that there was a sheet of plastic across the whole screen!! I had been watching through plastic. When I removed it, a whole nother level of smile was on my face.
Not cheap, but really the cats meow to showcase your work for others to be able to enjoy as much as you.
Thanks for posting this mini-review, capmike! Will look into OLED tv units.
Neat solution to display your work.

In April 2017, when I was preparing to move (for the last time in my life; my next move will be in a hearse), I was looking for a way to enjoy a few billion pictures in the new home and in my retirement years. I would up buying a Samsung 65" smart TV for the living room; 48" smart TVs for the four bedrooms, dining room, garage, and covered patio; 36" smart TVs for the three bathrooms, kitchen, catio, and laundry room. I bought 64 GB flash drives for all of them, copied various files to them (fauna, flora, trains, cars, planes, aquariums, zoos, places), plugged them in, turned the TVs on, and they play 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Pictures are set to rotate in chronological order with at 15 seconds per picture. Much better than watching television!
Capmike,
What exactly did you purchase?

My LG C8 arrives today.
I hope to have the same smile on my face by tomorrow.
LG 55” OLED C9, cost $2,500. Best money spent. Still waiting since 8/25/18 for my $3,500 500mm PF Nikon lens.

We went in to Best Buy a couple years ago fully expecting to replace our old 55" Samsung with a newer 65" Samsung. They had 4 TV's (including the Samsung we expected to buy) in a viewing room. Ended up walking out with LG's OLED model. Yeah, picture quality IS that good.
I haven't had a TV since 2002. With the money saved, I've purchased some really great photo equipment, which I've gotten quite a bit more use from than any TV I could have purchased.

I have TV's and cameras; and enjoy the benefits of all of them.
I must be blessed.
That's so funny Mike about the plastic cover. I bought a GoPro Hero 7 and it had this turtle picture on the screen. I couldn't get rid of it. Tried power up/down, reset, menu change, nothing. Was going to send it back and then I decided to Google "turtle picture won't go away on new GoPro". Yep, it was a plastic sticker. I had tried removing it but it didn't come off easily and I thought it couldn't be a sticker and I was damaging the screen. Embarrassed but at least I didn't send it back.
You must be. In 2001, I had a subscription to a satellite company. It provided all the things in which I had an interest in viewing. After a few weeks, I found myself in "the other" room working on photography, writing programs, etc. while the TV was entertaining the air molecules in the living room. I totaled up the number of hours I spent watching something on TV and it work out to be 1 hour a week average over the course of a year. It just wasn't worth the $30/month I was paying.

The point of my original post seems to have been lost on some. Personally I do not watch network television. I only stream what I want to see, when I want to see it. The point was being able to share the actual beauty of my many thousands of photos with others, without trying to seat 8 people around my computer.
