Welcome to Day 234 of the Daily Photo Challenge! The theme for today is 'Natural Lighting.' One of the best tutorials I've read on this subject can be found at this link:
http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/natural-light-photography.htmKnowing how to utilize natural lighting will enable you to produce beautiful images that require minimal or no post processing or enhancement. I am looking forward to seeing your interpretation of natural lighting. Please share your settings if available.
Due to an unexpected out-of-town trip, I was not able to devote much time in preparation of this challenge. The quality of my examples and lack of setting information is greatly compromised as I am pulling them off my Facebook account due to a time crunch! I apologize in advance!
The diffusion of the sun by the clouds and the evening shading made for a beautiful sunset
This was an unexpected opportunity to grab the camera when I noticed how the natural light from my kitchen window illuminated Caroline's eyes.
Another example of the evening sun indirectly on the face
Natural lighting in a landscape
Natural lighting at its best in a monastery as the sun set through the stained glass.
For Frankie ~
I think these may qualify, sun going down at Scotties Castle, the bridge, Zion, the old building is in Jerome, the stairs are in Balboa Park Ca, church is in Sedona, flowers by my window at home, weed flowers on the hwy going down to CA and the rose in a garden
gate at Scotties Castle
bridge in park
Zion just liked the trees
old building in Jerome sun was going down
stairs at Balboa Park CA
inside church in Sedona looking out
birthday flowers on the table by window
stopped on the twisty freeway going down from Hesperia to the 215 split to LA (bad person) and it's a DOF yea
rose in a garden
last one, sunset from my patio
lied, like this one also taken tonight
Couldn't post anything yesterday due to doing some major cleaning and sorting. Will try to get in some shots today. Everyones posts were really nice.

I just saw your post as I was about to sign off. I'm running way behind in posting the new challenge! I think your examples are perfect! (pg. 1)

HiAnn, I have a problem with shots like these......dark foreground and bright background and this photo is a prime example .. how can we make an ''equal'' shot, like balancing the two? Anyone got any ideas?
Here is an example. I've taken many shots from this spot but just cannot get one to my liking
MG...no apologies necessary YOUR DOING GREAT...and thanks for the link...I forgot all about cambridge.
BABY CAROLINE in Natural light is beautiful
Road sometimes you just CANT balance shade and light and a crop is the only way...or change positions or flash the foreground...or keep practicing in post processing as I have seen peeps replace blown out skys with blue ones or add clouds and all sorts of stuff.
be back with last nights natural light in a sec.
soft side light
light and shadows
into the light
reflected or is it refracted? IDK
hmmmm maybe not enough light
