Repairs of equipment bought on ebay

From what I understand the major manufacturers (e.g. Canon, Nikon, etc.) will only repair equipment that was purchased in the country it was originally destined for. If I purchase used camera equipment from overseas through eBay and at some point in the future it needs repairs, am I out of luck or are there ways to get it repaired?
Thank you in advance for your help - I really appreciate it.

Find an independent repair shop. Maybe some one here has some names and addresses.

Canon repairs all equipment no matter where it was purchased.
You just don't get the warranty.

Rick, the discountcamerarepair guy, is good. A little slow but it is because he does it as a sideline, but the quality is there. I have used him. He repaired a Nikon D300 for me. That is a camera that is pretty much 'out of season' for Nikon repairs because of its age.

You won't have any problems getting repairs, the equipment just won't have any manufacturers warranty,.
So you will have to pay for any and all repairs unless the supplier gives his own warranty, which quite a few do!
I bought a new D750 from a foreign supplier who gave me 12 months warranty provided I sent the camera to his designated technicians in London or Hong Kong.
Although it should be noted that I haven't had to use this service in the 9 months since I bought the camera!
My experience was very positive and I saved a shedload of cash.

The site you posted doesn’t open very well on my iPhone, Rick might want too fix it so it opens on all computer and hand held products.

If you are purchasing used from anywhere you have no manufacturer warranty as far as I know so that consideration is off the table. Most used gear is sold after the warranty expires anyway. For other repairs and service it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Canon USA will service any Canon product, at the going rate of course. Nikon USA is a bit less lenient in that regard and will often not service or repair equipment that did not originally have a USA warranty even though it is out of warranty. I believe Nikon will also service gear that came with an international warranty originally.
Terms vary and change over time, so, a visit to the manufacturer's website and perhaps an e-mail exchange with their customer service could be a wise precaution.

Keep in mind that buying something new in the US does not mean it has a US warranty and further, not all items can be repaired due to control of parts distribution by certain manufacturers or the refusaly to even work on them period. Some retailers offer their own limited warranty and reading the fine print should be accomplished.

Caveat Emptor! Check with reliable sources for your own protection.

I noticed that on Rick's web site the right and left edges were cut off. I am using a full sized computer screen. Moving the bar on the bottom didn't help.

Nikon is fussy from what I hear. What makes you think "everything" on eBay is Over Sears or Gray Market? As I recall all the Cameras and Lenses I've bought used from eBay have been from US addresses. And the older and vintage equipment I most often buy this way is already out of warranty will probably never need service anyway. Pentax has been subbing out their service for a long time now.

Well I got warranty registration completed no problem for my Canon 6D2 and also 24-105L. Both eBay purchases (vender not a Canon distributor) . And at time, 15 months ago and saved something better then $800. Today I'm very satisfied with equipment puchased!

Still buyer beware, check carefully eBay sellers

I also have used discount camera repair and can recommend the service. Resurrected my Nikon 80-200 AS IF D to perfection.

It is really only a problem with Nikon. Don't buy Nikon gear on eBay unless you check out the serial number first.
