I was on the phone with my wife and walked into the solarium to let the cats in. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught a bright flash of color. The light was poor, but I grabbed my camera and fired away, changing settings to try and compensate, hoping to document what lay before me. Long story a bit shorter, I managed to get decent shot of a new visitor to our yard and a life bird as well. Please enjoy the downloads.

Great shot and congrats, Bernie and our first one stopped by our feeder about four mornings ago. While I was online I had been watching what appeared to be a hen Red-Winged Blackbird and a few minutes later this bright beautiful male bird showed up and looking in the bird guide book then realized that the rather plain brownish bird that I had previously thought was a Red-Winged hen was really a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak hen!
