I recently picked up a few SanDisk Extreme Pro memory cards and found an offer enclosed to try out their "RescuePro Deluxe software. They say it is "a recovery software for digital media. It recovers images, videos, documents, music or just about anything".

I was wondering if fellow UHH's has given this software a try and if so, what were the results?

I've heard other members talk about using this stuff. I never had a need to. I'm sure someone will pipe up and give you some info.

Yep. It does work. I've used it to recover lost files on several occasions. People bring me a card that's been erased and think I'm a miracle worker!
Best if you don't shoot on a card that's supposedly been erased or reformatted.
Raw files are sometimes converted to a different file type... tif, I think.

I accidentally deleted some of my husband's photos a year or so ago and was able to recover them using this software.

Did you shoot anything on the card after you deleted?
Lexar makes a similar product and there is more software out there.

I recently was playing with my "MediaRecover" software from Kingston as I had never had to use it. I ran it on my C drive last night and it recovered over 24,000 images! These were all images I had transferred to an external hard drive, but I was impressed with how well it recovered them. I opened several this morning for viewing and compared with the saved image and they were all full resolution, even the RAW files. Its very good software to have. Better to have it and never need it, than to need it and not have it in my opinion.

Windows ( that I know of ) has a nasty habit of erasing files by changing the first character of a file name.

Let's say your picture of a life time was:

onlythebest.jpg

When you erase it, Windows just renames it so it won't show up on a search to:

$nlythebest.jpg or something like that.

Recovery program find out what that character is and recovers it by maybe making it:

anlythebest.jpg

That's so you can see it again.

Interesting.
I bought a SanDisk CF card about 6 or 7 years ago and it came bundled with this software on one of those 'cut-down' CDs. It's version 3.3 and I've never had a need to use it, but it's patiently sitting on the shelf in case I do one day.

I should say it will work if you have not written over the files that were deleted. If you clear/format a card, take more pictures and then try to recover the deleted files you won't get all of them because some have been written over. Sometimes you will get half an image. :)
Also it needs space to work. If you are recovering an 8GIG card you will need 8GIG, maybe a little more, for it to write the recovered images to.
Also I would not run it on the entire hard drive, just a folder would work, otherwise it will try to recover everything that was ever deleted, and need a lot of space, if you try to run it on the whole drive.
P.S. It won't write the recovered images to the card you are running on, it needs a different space to write to.

Let me make that last sentence clearer...

P.S. It won't write the recovered images to the same card you are running it on, it needs a different space to write to.
