Epson SureColor P600. Your thoughts?
I think my Stylus Photo R3000 is on its last legs and as I need to print some photographs for an exhibition by the middle of next month I am considering purchasing the Epson SureColor P600. (I also considered the Canon Pixma Pro-10s, but the space I have will not accommodate it).
Reviews of the P600 vary considerably with some of the worst being on the Epson UK website. Other reviews indicate that Ink heads clog, (a problem I have never had with my R3000), some say there are problems loading fine art papers, so I would love to hear what you’re your experiences are with this printer.
Thank you in advance.
Thank you. I did that a couple of days back and received no reply's, so thought it no harm to try the Main Discussion Section.
Maybe not many members have the P600, however I have just checked and have now received a couple of useful reply's.
I remember seeing a vid on you tube once from Photovideo EDU where he printed out of his home office & liked the printer. You need to use it or they will clog over time. A program called Qimage has an exercise option to keep the heads from clogging. Good luck.
I went from the R3000 after extensive research and got the P600. Best choice I could have made. Beautiful pictures. You'll be very happy...
I've used my P600 for several years. Usually enlarge to 13x19. I have been pleased with the output almost every time. Have had some challenge using different papers, but once I got the correct paper ICC profiles in the printer, they worked fine.

Thank you but I didn't get your reply.
Thanks everyone. I will probably order a P600 in the next few days.

Then I can't imagine what happened. You had quite a few replies. I own/use an Epson P800 which I like quite a bit. Have had it for several years with no issues. I choose it over the P600 as I do a bit more printing and wanted the larger, and less expensive, ink carts. I once owned a 4000, but don't do that much volume right now. I use ONLY OEM ink and mostly Red River papers with their icc profiles and am very happy. Best of luck. (Make sure you purchase when on sale. @ 850.00 net.)

Thank you, I would love the P800 but bench space being a problem and probably very rarely using anything larger than A3+ I think I will stick to the P600, which I believe uses similar technology.

Never had a problem with my P600. It has worked wonderfully!

First off... I live in Arizona where it is "VERY DRY". Even with the Epson 2000 and 3000 printers at our club, we had to be sure to print a photo once a week to keep the ink from clogging up in the heads. We have had the P600 by Epson and and found they did clog up now and then if not used over a period of time( sometimes days). I also have my own personal P600 at home. I also experienced head clogging if I did not use my printer for 6 weeks or so. And it is very costly to clean the heads!! It uses a lot of ink. I read an article a while back on leaving your printer turned on- I have done this for over a year now- The small cost of a printer in standby is nothing compared to the cost of ink on a cleaning job!!! I have just returned from an extended trip, which my printer has been left on for about 6 weeks now, and I just printed a "Print Head Check" and it was perfect! The idea behind leaving the printer turned on, is the print head stays heated, and keeps the ink from drying out inside the print head..
I've had a P600 for about a year and love it, used to have the R3000. Have never had any head clogging and I usually leave it on for about 3 hours a day and let it turn off by itself. I do have one quirk with it, it sometimes takes a about 90 seconds between clicking on PRINT in the software and the time it prints. It only does this for the first picture, then it takes 2-3 seconds per print. No idea why. The only other thing that I miss, and it probably is in the software, I can't find a draft setting. Epson has tried to help but it failed. I use a Mac and maybe that's why.
