Bird banding and bird watching at Joppa Flats Audubon Center in Massachusetts.

I had a wonderful time today as a Patron Member of the Mass Audubon. For Patron and Supporting Members only, there was a fantastic event with scientists who band 4000+ birds a year, and bird-watching on Plum Island in Newburyport, MA. The best time to go birding is before the leaves come out. My pictures are just mediocre, but I hope I can inspire someone to go bird-watching! It's light exercise and so so much fun. Enjoy!

Thank-you Swamp-Cork! I learned so much, including that birders used to shoot the birds to learn about them. Now, they use special large nets. Out of 4000+ birds banded each year, about 1 dies in the net each year from a heart-attack.
