Epson SureColor P600. Your thoughts?
I think my Stylus Photo R3000 is on its last legs and as I need to print some photographs for an exhibition by the middle of next month I am considering purchasing the Epson SureColor P600. (I also considered the Canon Pixma Pro-10s, but the space I have will not accommodate it).
Reviews of the P600 vary considerably with some of the worst being on the Epson UK website. Other reviews indicate that Ink heads clog, (a problem I have never had with my R3000), some say there are problems loading fine art papers, so I would love to hear what you’re your experiences are with this printer.
Thank you in advance.
I use the P-800 and it is a tank; akin to the 3880. That said you will not want to try and use the roll paper feeder which is a flimsy piece of you-know-what.
I wonder how different the P600 and R3000 are. I too have an R3000 and have the P600 in mind for that day when the R goes south. I have read user comments and though there are a lot of negative ones they are only a fraction when compared to the positive ones. And, in the real world complaints are aired far more frequently than praise. It does seem that those who want to use the matte black ink option have the most problems so if you need that function I don't think the P600 is for you. Personally I've never used it on the R3000 so that wouldn't be a consideration. I would double check the roll paper set up as I use that from time to time with the R.
Thank you Bob and Rich,
I don't think I will ever use the roll paper feeder and have never used the matte black option on my R3000, so hopefully there shouldn't be a problem. I also think your comment Rich that 'complaints are aired far more frequently than praise' in reviews is probably a very valid one.
By the number of replies received I wonder if not many members have the P600. But thank you again for your very helpful comments.
If I decide to go ahead (with the P600) I will let you know of any problems.
I have the Epson 3880 Pro. Recently I had a need for a second printer in another city. I opted for the Canon Pro 100 Pxima and their Print Studio Pro application. I liked it so much that I bought a second one and retired my Epson 3880. I am considering the Canon Pro 1000 for fine art printing.
