I have a Canon T4i with an 18-135 lens. Am learning, slowly, with a photograph skill level of perhaps a 2. I have lots of deer in my backyard at dusk, not completely dark yet, but not mid day either. Want photos, but completely in the dark on settings. Suggestions are most welcome.

Take a few shots on full auto with auto iso. Then look at the properties (iso, shutter speed and aperture) of the shots that look good.

For now, I would recommend trying the full auto thing too, as it would be hard for me to try and give you an idea of what settings without being able to see the location for myself. However, if you don't understand the relationship between iso, shutter speed, and aperture it might be time to looking at picking up the book Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson and then you can go into any type of setting and have an idea of what you'll need to do setting wise to capture those shots you want.
