Ruby Beach Sandpools, Olympic National Park, Washington, USA

The brown sand, with orange crystalline minerals, which include minuscule crystals of garnet, caught the angled near-sunset light nicely.

Sometimes the sand minerals catch the sun just right, and turn fiery red, especially in morning overcast conditions with the sun shining through the clouds behind this camera position. Thus, the name: Ruby Beach.

Really different image. I would suggest to crop out the majority of the black section on the top, as it adds nothing to your otherwise excellent composition.

Rather than cropping out some of the black section at the top I would recommend bringing out just a bit more detail in it, or even just a suggestion of detail. Flat black is just a bit too much. The rest of the scene is so eye-catching it can prevail against what might otherwise be seen as a distraction.

The only adjustment I can voice is that I wish that it was my shot

Nice shot. If I have a chance I would like to stop by and see the sand pools. Thank you.👍

It is interesting. The lack of reference makes it plausible to see this as a huge landscape from a very high altitude. Or for what is its. Either way, it is a fascinating image. Gotta love film!

Fine abstract quality in a real scene most of us will never get to see. Art.

Simply a great shot. I don't object to the black areas, they simply show the sun hasn't got there yet. Got to love film, really got to love the supersaturation of Velvia 50 in a medium format.
