Ralph, Great capture. I would make the snow white and beef up the contrast in the sky. My 3 cents if it were my image.

What about straightening the horizon so the water doesn't flow out of the picture?

Lol - Trust me, there is still water in Legend Lake. My first priority was to straighten the vertical aspect of this clump of birch. Comes of shooting from the comparatively warm interior of the car. Thank you for the suggestion.

Nice photo.
I'm curious about the settings.
Why iso 400 if you had full daylight?

Was using an ND filter to cut glare - a balancing act.

In retrospect, Iā€™m aware there were other ways that might have achieved the same goal.
Thanks for asking.

It is a nice shot Ralph and it will be better as has been suggested making the snow white and the horizon straight.

Thank you for responding, William. I honestly think I would have lost detail/texture making the snow much whiter. Also in rural areas where I live now, snowy areas are often muddy. The horizon was my choice to keep the clump of trees more vertical or to correct the perceived horizon. As a reportorial style photog as opposed to being an artistic one, the trees got more of my attention.
