Has anyone installed it? How is it working out?

There is thread on DPReview that will give you insight to the update. I have an A6000 and have not done the update. I am waiting to see if this update really makes a difference.

Did the update Sunday. It seems to be OK, so far. I have not used the camera, other than checking to see that it worked OK. I did notice that it does start faster. If anything goes downhill, I'll post.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm surprised my friends at Sony didn't tell me about that.

Unless it's significant, I'm in no rush. I see it works via USB, rather than an SD card - like Nikon. That's a plus.

What is the advantage to doing this upgrade? I have a new A6000 and am just learning to use it.

It is said to 'optimize' certain lenses. I think it upgraded some video features also.

Ditto, here. It’s not exactly a speedy update but straight forward. I turned the camera on and off a couple times, then put it back in its case. 99% of the time around here, FW updates are pretty much always recommended. I don’t see a reason to change unless you “need” a particular reason not too.

Updates sometimes are buggy when they first come out. However, I thank you for your advice.

Looks like I can’t do it on a MAC.

I am wondering if a firmware update for the 6300 will ever be issued.

Sadly the 2 replies saying can not be done on a Mac are wrong. My 2 friends and myself all own Macs and a Sony a6000. No we are not triplets just enjoy each others company from time to time.
All 3 had no problems at all updating.
One tip. When the slow long green line finally makes it across from left to right and it opens a button I think called "Finish " wait until the display on the back of the camera returns to USB CONNECTION MASS STORAGE If you click on the Computer button before that displays you have not allowed enough time for the camera to complete the upgrade. The camera will not respond to anything including turning it on and off several times. With it turned on and battery in place look at the bottom, if there is a little red light the camera is fine but you will need to begin again to do the update from the start.
The auto focus is better IMHO and it does start up a little faster than before in version 3.20.
I'm impressed with Sony offering a firmware upgrade 5 or more years after its date of release for this camera.
