IndyCar is returning to Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey California this September after a 15 year absence. They held a test session on February 8 that I attended and these photos are the result. The test session went until around 1 PM when the rain arrived. Most of the photos were taken at what is arguably the most iconic corner (actually two) in North America, the corkscrew which is officially turns 8 and 8A; it’s my favorite place at the track. I shot about 3,700 photos in about 4 hours with my Canon 80D (you can take a lot at 7 FPS!) and these are the first of 3 sets (20 photos total). I have been attending races at Laguna Seca since I was 14 years old when a good friend’s father took us; it’s one of my favorite places on the planet and I usually go to 2 or 3 races a year. I worked on the timing crew there and at other tracks in Northern California for a few years while in college in the 60’s. I hope you enjoy the photos; I enjoyed taking them.
