Looking for Recommendations for Tours to Patagonia

Hi all,

We’re getting ready to start planning a trip to Patagonia in late 2020. Since I have NO idea where to start or what I’m doing, I’d really appreciate any input from those of you who have actually traveled there. Suggestions as to tour companies to use (or to avoid) and anything you can think of to get us started would be very much appreciated. Also, any info on when to go or not go and the reasons will definitely impact our final travel plans. My husband is NOT a serious photographer, so a photography tour is off the table from minute one. We are both quite active and my passion is wildlife. My husband really enjoys the outdoors. The Patagonia leg of our trip will be tacked onto a trip up the Peruvian Amazon. Planning for the Amazon part of our trip seems sooooo much simpler than Patagonia. We’re actively working on the Amazon leg of the trip, but if anyone wants to put in their nickel’s worth on that, we’ll listen!

Length of time away is not a serious consideration.

Since we’ve already been to the Galapagos, Machu Picchu, and Antarctica none of those destinations are under consideration as a part of this trip.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions/help.

Have not been there but you might look at Gate1 Travel - know they offer Small Group tours there (max 22 people), etc. so you may be able to join for that portion. Their site will give you lots of ideas. We have used them 8-9 time and always very satisfied with quality of services, tour guides, accommodations, etc. We leave in about 8 wks for a Russian River Cruise, booked thru them.

Thank you for your recommendation. We’ll put them on the list.

We used National Geographic back in 2010 -- Fantastic experience -- Since then we have used NG 6 additional times -- The trip to Patagonia remains our favorite -- Included a snap of the Nena Glaciers, Chile

Thank you for the recommendation. We’ll definitely check NG out, although they tend to be rather pricey. Believe me, I’ll take a camera. Wouldn’t think of leaving home without at least one!
