Messing with the time machine

In our community of Pacific Beach in San Diego, CA the main business street is Garnet Ave. The first photo (credit: Google Maps) shows a mural painted on the side of a building just south of Garnet on Cass St. depicting a photo taken in the mid to late 1940s shot from the intersection of Garnet and Cass looking west to Crystal Pier that extends out over the ocean. The second photo I took of Ms. chase and our dog, Fern, standing in front of that mural just for fun and a little time travel and converted to B&W. chase

To answer jerryc41: Yes this is a painting depicting an old photo on a cement block wall.
PhotogHobbyist: I can't explain the lack of shadows, perhaps my wife and dog are zombies or
it was the result of the ambient natural lighting. Here is the original color photo.
