I’m sure this topic has been thoroughly discussed but I’m looking to print some of my best photography to matte, frame and show in an exhibition. I enjoy printing my own work using the Canon Pro-100 and was looking for some input on paper for mostly color, landscape, and street scenes. I don’t like glossy or matte finishes but somewhere in between. Should be archival and professional looking. I’ve used Epson Luster many times and it’s ok but I think we could do better. Fine Art rags? Maybe the Epson Legacy papers? Baryta? Platine? Red River? Help, too many choices.

Epson has a paper that I love - Exhibition Fiber Paper. It's meant to have the look and feel of the old double weight air-dried F surface darkroom paper, which isn't high gloss, but just a soft sheen. I don't know how well it would work with a Canon printer.

Thanks John. I’ll look into that. Hopefully the double weight will not be a problem. Does it have natural white?

My printer has done some beautiful work for me on Baryta. I love it. In addition to the beautiful texture, it is really white. Might give it a try and see how it works with your printer.

Red River has sample packs that you can order, which I did a few years ago. At that time they had two different packs each with several sheets of a number of types of paper. Price was reasonable, as I recall.

Thanks Larry. I will definitely try the baryta. Maybe the Epson Legacy.

Look for "semi-glossy" photo paper.

I've had good results with Red River papers in my PRO-100.

Order the trial packs and try them.

Most manufacturers have sample packs or swatch books. Contact them, or their dealers, and see what you find.

I really like Red River Palo Duro SoftGloss Rag, as well as their Aurora Art White or Natural papers.
