In Oregon Field Guide.
This program was on TV last night, a most excellent video of a dedicated photographer. Ken Shults followed and found Great Grey Owls in some forest in Central Oregon.

What an elusive bird. Never realized how difficult it is to find them.

Some of 'em sit in a tree in our front yard at dusk, on occasion.

I have lived here for 37 years and have seen one owl. the only reason I saw it then was because of the crows and Blue Jays raising cain with him. i'm sure they are the reason my 4# Chihuahua came up missing from back back yard.

I can only say one word, WOW, remind me of waiting over 4 hours for great heron to come to the nest only to realize when I look on the big screen that he/ she had been on the nest all that time with only the top of the head showing up from time to time

Haven't put in anywhere near that amount of time, but I've been trying to photograph owls for a few years. Extreemley elusive. I'll keep trying. Some serious dedication there. absolutely beautiful birds.
