If you are a veteran, you should be a member of USAA for all of your insurance and banking needs, including credit cards.

Ask any travel agent or insurance agent about vacation insurance. It is specifically designed to reimburse you for a whole list of reasons, including medical, of course. My wife and I have bought it on occasion and I don't recall it being particularly expensive. We've never made a claim but I know people who have without problem.
I hope your medical issues get squared away and you can get traveling again!

I once organized a trip to England for a group. The tour company allowed cancellation and refund in case of war. That's when the Gulf War started. Since it wasn't a declared war, no one got a refund. So, I guess the Gulf War wasn't a war.

Whatever state you live in must have a fraud department. Send the information you have to them, with a cc to Chase.

Are there any news stations in your area that will confront them on your behalf. Example we have "7 on your side" and "Better get Bacero" on different news channels in NY area. They get results !!

I have had very good experience with Chase. One was a case of credit card fraud. They brought to my attention and took care of everything in advance. The other involved a cable company that was double billing me. The cable company gave me a lot of lip. Chase fixed the problem in 20 min.

Yes, they are not the lowest price, but the quality of their service is superb!

I agree on both points, but if you’re a veteran, on active service, or the child of a veteran or service member, they are a great insurance company. The convinced me this year when to my surprise, I received an unexpected check for ~$800 (!). The explanation was that they has miscalculated the premium on a property and were refunding me the extra premiums paid since the inception of the policy. I may be wrong, but I just cannot imagine Allstate doing that from my several unpleasant experiences with them. Years after their cancellation, my agent managed to reinsure my house with them. The result was that they slowly began raising the premiums until at was unaffordable. This was in addition to the regular increases due to the value increasing. After it had more than doubled, I switched to USAA which cost 1/2 as much for the same coverage.

Their worst mistake (sin) is still affecting me. About 30 years ago, I purchased two 150K whole life policies at a premium of $150 per month from Allstate. The selling point was that at some point, other than the premium being fixed, was that they’d accumulate enough cash value, that some day, in retirement, I’d be able to drop or reduce the premiums and deductions from the accumulated value would supplement the payments. A few years ago, I received a notice that while one policy had a cash value of over 10K while the other was broke. Of course I confronted the agent, who I had done business with for decades, who instead of telling the truth, suggested that maybe I didn’t need as much insurance and brought in an Allstate financial consultant to give me financial advice. After several of these non productive meetings, I filed a complaint wit( the state insurance commissioner. The result: turns out the agent sold me a one whole life and one “universal life” policy, which allows payments to increase. Allstate denied any responsibility and my only recourse other than suing the agent (who had since retired, sold the agency and recently lost his wife), was to more than double the monthly payment to keep the policy in force. That strategy will only work for awhile. In two years, it will increase again until like term life, which would have been much cheaper, it either becomes unaffordable, or I’ll be forced to reduce the amount of the principal. That will have a large and direct effect on my heirs. As I said, I could sue the agent, but I can’t prove what was verbally said more than 30 years ago, and of course Allstate will do nothing to make me whole. As you can imagine, regardless whether it was the agent’s or the company’s mistake, I’m not recommending Allstate to anyone. End of rant and apologies to the OP for taking his thread off on a tangent.

Medical expenses back in 2010 caused me to go BK. All of my credit cards were cancelled except for Chase with a $9400 credit limit. I was grateful that they continued to support me when all other credit agencies bailed on me. Chase is still my go to card most of the time but now that my credit is repaired I am able to get some great deals with other companies with 0% interest for a year or no payments for a year etc.. So I'm taking advantage of some of the those but still use the Chase card to keep them happy.

Not all auto insurance companies are created equal. I had two accidents within a 4 year period. Over a decade ago. No one was injured, just body damage. One accident was my fault, the other was not. The accident that was not my fault, that person's insurance paid my body damage. When my insurance was up for renewal, I was told I would not be able to renew. That insurance company was GEICO. You do not have to be a government employee to get that insurance anymore. I had to get another insurance company. Which I've had for a very long time. I'm constantly getting mail advertising, from GEICO, wanting me to consider them over my present insurance company. I doubt they even know, they once cancelled me out. Maybe they will give me another chance. But, I'm not interested.

I dumped Chase years ago. They charged me a foreign exchange fee for a number of purchases made in the UK and when I called to ask about them, they were nasty. I found a web site (this was in 2001) called "ChaseBankSucks.org". Yes, there were a number of people complaining about them, but there was good information, as well. I got the address of the head of the bank. Wrote him a letter (cc'ed the Comptroller of the Currency, state AG and BBB) telling him what had happened and that I wanted to cancel the card, the oldest card in my wallet. I had the issue resolved to my satisfaction, cancelled the account and haven't done business with them since. Banks need you more than you need them, there's plenty of competition out there.

Same here! Been with State Farm for about 40 years. Replaced my roof in SC after Hurricane Hugo, replaced my roof in PA after a huge and ugly hale storm, went to court for us and paid a 10,000.00 law suit against my wife when she was at fault in an auto crash (and repaired our car to like new). Great company and I doubt we would switch even for some savings.

you know on the other hand , this was a brand new card , not a long time customer , expecting them to come out with $ 2100 is a little steep .next time pay the $ 300 or so for a real insurance policy . now , i am ready for the attacks .
