I was considering a 35 mm for my Sony a7iii and came across this pricey little gem. Comments from owners please.

I have the early and later Canon EF 35-2 which are both really good lenses, and recently got the Sigma at a steal of $400 at an estate sale. The Sigma is one of the best lenses I've ever used, and has autofocus which the Loxia doesn't, if that makes a difference.

Yes, I know the Loxia is manual focus, but I may be able to handle that. I did consider the Sigma. I have many Sigma lenses for my Nikon and love them all!

The 35 would be for my Sony a7iii. I already have the 16-35/2.8 G-Master, which is my favorite lens on this camera. It is a little large and heavy, which is why I was considering the prime. I also have the 55/1.8 which is very sharp; but sometimes a little too close.

Thanks for your response!

Just recently purchased the Loxia lens to use on the 7Rlll. Am enjoying them very much. Take your time, and enjoy! Love the photos I have gotten!

Thank you. What other lenses do you have for the Sony?

50,35 and 21. Did not want to carry the weight of the auto focus. They do take some time getting use to the manual focus, remembering what I have not used in years. But enjoying them very much. Mostly shoot landscapes. Also have the Sony macro, and the 70/200 f4. Have not got out as much as I wanted to, getting lot of rain

And the manual is not that hard to do! Would I purchase them again? you better believe I would! Enjoy!

Thank you. My main lens is the 16-35/2.8, but I wanted something smaller and lighter, which is why I went with the 55. Checking what length I use most with the 16-35 and it is 35. Your input means a lot. Thank you.

I also have the 70-200/4. I just got it and haven’t been out a lot with it yet...too cold!!!

I'm not trying to be at all sarcastic. It seems to me as an amateur that a 35mm is not quite a wide angle lens and not quite a normal lens. What would it be used for.

It’s a normal lens on an APS-C. On my full-frame, a 50 is considered normal, but I find it a little too close at events or groups of people. I would use it at family events or street photography, when I want to be inconspicuous.
