In early November, my wife and I will be spending a week in Carmel and will have a car. I make it a point to get out and shoot at dawn each day and I try to make time to shoot at dusk as well. I know that this is one of the most scenic areas on the continent, so I need help in picking areas/sights to shoot. Thanks in advance for your input.

There's a beautiful scenic drive along 101 that I did on my honeymoon about a billion years ago (well 32 in Sept)

I love Monterey, just a few miles away:

http://www.seemonterey.com
http://www.canneryrow.com

The coast views and city architecture are both worth photographing, not to mention the fabulous aquarium & cannery row. Take a whale watching cruise. You will love Point Lobos State Reserve.

So much to do & see! Can I carry your camera gear?

Be sure to stop at the Spanish mission (Junípero Serra) near Carmel

Agree with many comments...there is so much to see there. If you can go to San Simeon and visit Hearst`s Castle. I loved the coast and Big Sur. All depends on what you want to shoot. carmel also has a beautiful beach with opportunities to shoot very many lovely ladies who in my time had no objection being photographed...Good luck !

A picture is worth a thousand words -

Take the drive south on 101 and have lunch in Cambra and do not miss the aquarium in Monterey - get there 15 minutes before it opens
