Yesterday, Adobe released new updates for LightRoom, Photoshop, and Camera Raw. One of the pages allowed you to enhance raw files which is an advanced demosaic designed to extract additional detail from some raw files.
I downloaded the updates and went to try out this new feature in Lightroom classic CC. I am using what I thought was the latest version of Windows 10 and come to find out that the version in my computer was not compatible. I tried to find the correct version automatically but the answer I got that I would have the most up-to-date version. I then downloaded the Windows 10 upgrade assistant, which then upgraded Windows to the correct version. I was then was able to run the tool. Although it may be the picture I chose, I personally did not see a major difference. Will wait and see!
I look forward to giving this new tool a spin. What was the before and after size of the file? How long did the tool take to work on this particular image?
I did the same, including the Windows part. Then I watched a YouTube about what it does and how it works. Turns out, that the new feature might be a technological wonder but it won't do much for most of us. It may be useful for people that make very large prints.

I, and a number of other users are experiencing an issue where the new Enhance details feature produces black results. It's been reported to Adobe.

Me too. It will be fun to see what Adobe figures out on this one!
If the requirements is having the fall 1809 version of windows 10 . I will pass . Sounds like it doesn't do anything that I will miss
Is this a characteristic of the Adobe cloud software - that you always have to be at the most recent version of your OS for things to keep working?
I'm using standalone LR 6.14 on a 2012 Mac Minibut am considering switching to the Classic CC version. I understand that my computer may not/probably will not be able to run OS upgrades beyond the current Mojave.
So am I likely to find that future updates to LR CC will not be functional if I do not/cannot upgrade past Mojave? Or is the issue in this post just related to this specific new feature? Or just to Windows?

It was the new feature and W10
I tried this new feature with a couple of raw files. I saw no difference, other than the fact that the new DNG file, produced by the Enhance feature, was four times as large as the old one. It also took, on my computer, eight minutes to produce this new DNG file.
I have since done some more research about this feature. Adobe says that, for those cameras with an anti-aliasing filter, the feature won't do much. Each of my cameras has an anti-aliasing filter, which may explain why I saw no difference. Adobe also says the feature would be useful when making large prints. I have no way of testing that without sending files out to be printed, so I may never know whether this feature will be of any use to me.
I have a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro that runs High Sierra and Lightroom Classic CC 8.2 with no problems. I used
http://dosdude1.com/highsierra/ patcher to load High Sierra. Their web site says that your 2012 Mini is compatible with the patcher. There is also a patcher for Mojave but I don't want to mess with what's working. I tried the Enhanced Detail but found it not worth the time.
What it is for:
“Introduced in the February 2019 release of Lightroom Classic (version 8.2) and powered by Adobe Sensei, Enhance Details produces crisp detail, improved color rendering, more accurate renditions of edges, and fewer artifacts. Enhance Details is especially useful for making large prints, where fine details are more visible. This feature applies to raw mosaic files from cameras with Bayer sensors (Canon, Nikon, Sony, and others) and Fujifilm X-Trans sensors.”
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/enhance-details.htmlThechnical details and when to use it:
You’ll find Enhance Details most effective on the following image types:
o Images that you want to print or display at a large size.
o Images that display artifacts.
o Images with lots of fine detail.

Same here - updated Win 10, enhanced 3 RAW images, can't see anything different but the enhanced files are ~10 times larger than the originals!! The process took ~15 seconds in each case.
