I was tinkering at the beach last night with some handheld longer exposure (VR does a pretty good job). With the last light I did this which was more like 1 second and I panned. Winter colors are what I like. This was probably 20 minutes after sunset.
The second one is where I was standing and I wanted it in focus.
The last is a handheld VR shot. I got my feet wet on that one.

Very nice set, sandiegosteve
Three gorgeous shots. I've never seen anything like #1. Cool.
Thanks everyone. The first one is 2.0s/f13/ISO 100. I just set base ISO and then find a shutter speed that lets me pan the distance I want. Then adjust aperture to minimize blinkies.
I like to do that trick when the shot I wanted isn't happening. Last night the clouds didn't do what I wanted and the tide was higher than I expected (I wanted cloud reflections on the wet sand).
The other fun thing do to if you have a zoom is to set your shutter to the time it takes you to zoom from near to far (or far to near). Then, tweak the rest of exposure and zoom when you click. It gives an cool spiral motion blur.
3 awesome images, and #1 is particularly striking - well done!
Interesting--If I’m choosing, I’ll go with the third one.
In the third, it looks like you managed not to be swept out to sea. Good shot.
#1 seems as though it might be a painting rather than a photo. You might wish to paly around with some of the art-software and convert it to a painted-image.....??????
Just a passing thought.
The motion in #1 and #3 really makes those images outstanding!

A really nice set of three images. The first one is most appealing to me. Well done.
Your experimenting had some excellent results. Like everyone else has said, #1 is outstanding. Nothing wrong with the others either, especially #2.
You've given me some things to try, as do many others on this forum.
