Hello hogs, I'm a Nikon user with a Canon question. I know this is not the place for "for sale" stuff but I wanted to find out if any Canon users have used any of these 35mm cameras. Aprox year of cam would be helpful to me also. all are Canon EOS. 1) Rebel 2) A2 3) 5 w 35-80 f4-5.6 4) 300ez flashes .

There are several versions of the EOS SLR Rebel. You can get a timeline from wiki of the various models, scroll to heading 'film cameras' at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS

Background information about the other Canon products is a similar process, in google = wiki Canon a2

I've shot a roll or two with a Rebel G. The body fully operates any EF lens as well as the IS being fully operational, if available for the lens model. The drawback of the Rebel G model was just three focus points, rather limiting to my shooting style. An EOS 5 / A2 would be a much more advanced body for AF support, again supporting all Canon EF lenses. The wiki page has a lot of details.

The 300 EZ flash can be used on an EOS body. I believe the 'EZ' models will lack the advanced controls working with the camera for proper exposure and will only fire at full power. You should research in more detail to confirm. All the advanced flash controls by the EOS body come with the "EX" flash line.

The chart referenced and linked above shows a release date of October 1990. You probably saw that already?

Since these types of cameras and flashes run on alkaline batteries, make sure the battery compartment is clean and never left for years with expired / exploded batteries.

Again google is your friend ... Regarding the 300 EZ, this flash dates to just before the EOS line. I had one with a manual focus / FD-mount Canon T50. You should be able to find a PDF copy of any of the product manuals for any of these cameras with some effort looking online. Current models like a Canon EOS 6D II (and similar) include references to the EZ-line of flashes and the reference to the only full-power usage. On a digital camera, you can adjust the camera exposure to address the full-power flash. Of course you can do that on film, but you don't have the immediate feedback as on a DSLR.

I have an EOS A2 and 10S--roughly equivalent in the hierarchy of top Pro-sumer or "enthusiast" bodies like today's 7dII, 80D or maybe the 60D for the 10S. I have a 480EZ Speedlite and it has advanced TTL as well as manual controls. Doesn't have the radio controls of the modern EX Series. Sturdy all metal built cameras. Factoid: the 10S is the last or only? EOS film model to use mechanical frame counter for--ya know--film. The rest use an Infrared sensor---thus making them impossible to use with infrared film.
