What makes this photo so outstanding is the diagonal shadow and the shadow from the lamp. I just can't imagine it being striking without them.

This is very striking. It's beautifully sharp - even the wood grain. The light and shadow play well with each other. The ice is a great addition. Your signature doesn't bother me at all. When I'm posting anything on the "net, I tend to be bold with my mark also. Keeps at least the "honest" thieves at bay.

Based on what you found interesting, I'd say you could significantly strengthen the photo by removing what you don't need, such as wood at top and bottom and both sides.

This is a keeper. Love the composition. The shadow of the lights add to the overall feel of the shot.
