Halloween

Halloween is a significant event for us. We have well over 200 goblins come by the house each year. We set up in the garage (with heaters most years) and I put my tripod off to the side and capture the better costumes. Unfortunately, this last Halloween provided us with significant rain, so we had a bunch of candy left over!!

This little guy was just too special.

There is never a downside to leftover Halloween candy I don't think I would have made the connection to the holiday from this pic, though I'm not sure what that would leave me to imagine. His expression makes me think of a "sad clown." Very compelling.

I'm curious how the photo would look with the background de-saturated. Not all the way to gray, but more muted? Of course, any interest in manipulating the image will depend on how much you enjoy the photo as a memory of the fun holiday. Sounds like he definitely made an impression!

I think your suggestion is worthwhile. I shall pursue. Have to run an errand now, but later I'll try to come up with something.

Well, this project has revealed my weaknesses. I simply wasn't sure what to do with this. I ended up using a couple texture files to alter the background, but I'm not very excited about it. If anyone else has ideas, please feel free to try your hand at it.

That's pretty cool. Do you dislike it because it looks fake? Too busy and distracting?

Enjoyable capture. I see nothing necessary to change in the background except the amount of it. I think if you straighten the boy and tricycle, then crop it as tight as you can, you have a most powerful photo, both mysterious and moving.

Due to the "cartoonish" nature of the subject, I can't imagine what the background should be. I put one there, but my mind ain't in it!

There's good reason I hang out here!! Good call, Bob. I like it more, for certain.

I can’t think that leftover candy would ever be a bad thing.

We just recently finished it up. Of course, the grandkids helped.

Very nice, Bruce. He looks to be a mime.

Yes! On an old tricycle! I just thought he was cool. I typically take 750-900 pics during the trick-or-treat times.

Thanks for looking, Bob.

I think it is a nice photo. He is clearly too big for that tricycle which is probably what makes the photo work so well.
