Winter time is probably peak season for repairs. My buddy just had his 70-200 repaired fairly quickly. Good things take time and I am glad that we still have humans doing the repairs.

It's always good to have a comparable backup camera.

Good luck

It is the peak season for repairs because most pros have returned their cameras for their yearly R&R before the wedding business and family portraits pick back up. Mine is going to be heading there in about a couple of months once school is out for the summer.

If you have a lot of Nikon gear, look into Nikon Professional Services; you get priority on repairs.

Good idea, but NPS is not available to hobbyists, if you apply honestly. And the equipment threshold is pretty high also. I have wondered if perhaps NPS members who do not actually meet income percentage requirements might be improperly taking spots in line ahead of me.

That is why Nikon will be going out of business in the camera sector. They will focus on their other non camera product lines.

They have cut back on everything. They have lost market share. They simply cant keep up. All the companies have service glitches. But for Nikon it is not a glitch. It is business as usual.

Just sent my D850 to Nikon in Melville for warranty repair to fix a sticking shutter. Camera is ten months old and never abused in any way. Called today as per fed ex tracking, body was received yesterday. Wanted to learn when it will returned. I was informed that they were just logging in receipts arriving one week ago. They further said repair would take after log in, 7-10 business days (assuming parts are available) and that shipping would take 5-10 business days. I complained but to no avail. Only received an apology. This time frame in total means that I will be without the D850 body for a month or more. Seems like a real staffing or quality problem or both. Really not acceptable. Absent ownership of much Nikon glass, I would seriously be looking at Cannon or Sony. Beware. Welcome advice from anybody on how to expedite my repair. Thank you.

It took me about 3-4 weeks to get my Sigma lens calibrated and returned to me. I know this isn't Nikon, but the point that I am making is that I would rather they take their time and do it correctly than trying to do a quick job just to get it out the door. So relax, take some iPhone pictures and use Topaz AI gigapixel to process them and you'll wonder why you ever bought the D850, :))

I agree having service take their time and do it right.

However, I just finished a trial of Topaz AI Gigapixel. Not at all impressed!

I have only had nice things to say about NikonUSA repair centers. I have used them extensively and have never experienced anything but excellent service and quality repairs.

For the record. Time and again research has shown that the satisfied customer just goes his merry way while the dissatisfied one will broadcast loud, often and long about his experience. Reading customer reviews is at best a crap shoot.

Agreed. In 30+ years, I've never had a problem at all with Nikon repair services. I always send them to Melville NY at least once a year for the service and cleaning program and also get them to recheck the AF systems. For $200 + my shipping costs, I get a "brand new" camera. It takes a couple of weeks, but again with a backup camera, I patiently wait knowing that I am going to get back a jewel....

I dropped my use of Sigma lenses when I was talking to a Customer Service Rep and said: "I am talking to you as part of the SALES she said "I'm not sales" and hung up. Sold the Lens and never turned back and are content with Tamron. I am only one person bet keep telling the story and we keep telling the story. Also are 70+

I sent my 5DMIV in to Canon for warranty repair 2 Fridays ago. I got it back on the following Wednesday. Off season I guess. When I sent in my 5DMII they had to order most of the parts inside for it. That repair took about 3 weeks. A lens cleaning and repair about 2 weeks.
