If I had just asked you first I could have saved so much time. You are entitled to your opinion, but that is what it is, and only that.

Little tommie, how would you have saved time? Your comment, as usual makes no sense.

Guess the safe thing to do is stick with Breitbart and infowars.

Little tommie the snide one. Your comment shows you lack of intelligence.

I wouldn't have had to read it for myself. If you say it's a waste of time it must be. You wouldn't post it if it was only your opinion and not a proven fact, I'm sure.

Snide little tommie. Give that piece of garbage to any adult of average intelligence and I guarantee they will not view the article as informative. There were no facts, just some hack's opinion that was paid for it.

The disparagement of the NYT and the "liberal hack" bias of the article is friggnin hilarious.

Yes, I agree the NYT does show some liberal bias...but not to the point of me distrusting their facts.

The article in the OP is at the least interesting. It in no way has a liberal bias and is not discussing how the alt-right, or any side buys into fake news. Its prime example discusses how both Dems and Reps let their own biases cause them to buy into stories for and against the issue of climate change.

Its a pretty non-partisan discussion of how people buy into headlines.

Thanks to the OP for posting.

There is no question the problem exists. What they say seems reasonable. It's hard to debate with researchers, especial when my arguments might come from the gut and that is what they say I can't trust. I do question, if they come up with fixes, under what authority will they be able to implement them. Anyway, thanks for posting it.

Never casually dismiss what your gut tells you and don't put researchers on a pedestal.

That is an interesting article in the OP.

Lord Babylon works on gut rumblings and look where that got him. A plaything of shock jocks and despots.

Name me one media outlet that hasn't had to retract a story/article.

Yes, they have a history.....so does every other media outlet.

That doesn't mean that everything they publish is fake or false.

So you are using the “MOMMY, MOMMY ALL THE OTHER PAPERS DO IT!” defense.

We aren’t talking errors here, but outright fraud.

Ever hear of Jayson Blair?

The article focuses on why people are influenced by fake news. Actually what should be studied, is why the media produces fake news in the first place and how to combat it. If there was no fake news - these people would not have to try and find an answer as to how much influence and effect fake news has on a person.

There should be a heavy punishment for producing fake news, writers and publishers in all media. Once caught everyone involved with a fake story should be immediately fired. If it is a big publisher it should be dissolved by removing their license immediately.

It is like professional wrestling. When I was young, we did go to matches. Eventually things just seemed fake. When confronted by people these people who put it on said oh no it's real. Somewhere along in time they finally admitted it was a show or entertainment instead of the thing supposedly being real. So you have people fixing the outcome. Fixing the out come is also fake news!

The people who make false news is doing it for a far more nefarious reason. They are trying to influence people by feeding them fake info. Old saying “If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.” It is for only one thing, control! "Divide and conquer".

That is why it is more important to stop fake news and not try and find how it influences people. If you find out how it influences people, the inner circles will use it not to stop fake news effects but to make it more controlling to the majority of society.

Pelosi in one of her speeches pointed out how the Democratic party is using fake news. Actually producing fake situations and let the party it is directed against, fight it. That way it takes away their time and might leave a stigma on them. Just look at S.C. Justice Kavanaugh. Those women witness, we were to believe just because they were women, are coming out now and admitting they lied. Now why would they lie?

It was Pelosi who brought these women to the forefront to the House to testify. She is guilty of creating fake news. She should be severely punished. Her only reason for doing it was to delay the inauguration of a new SC justice. That is major interference into our judicial system. And that is why fake news should be punished most severely.

Who would you give the authority to determine what is fake news too. To Trump, news he doesn’t like is fake news, and news he likes isn’t fake news. Any news that isn’t flattering to him is automatically fake news.

Thanks Kaz, to me it is clear, even without having actually heard Peolosi admit to the fake stories (I did hear it) they plant stories and use to their advantage. And when it comes out that it was all a lie, the democrats close their eyes and act like it never happened.

When we had the Kavanaugh hearings, Frank, little tommie, little tard, and little boy were all screaming and calling Kavanaugh a rapist, blah, blah, blah. A blind person could see this was a put up hack job and when it didn't work, Ford disappeared with a big fat wad of money for her troubles, the democrats looked like buffoons, and on UHH those screaming that he was a rapist, went on to scream about something else.

Your question little tommie shows a definite inability to understand reality and a lack of intelligence. How does one know if it is true????? Take the Russia collusion crap. Two years, every agency on the planet has investigated this, still nothing, zero, zilch, nada. But there are actually people of low intelligence and irrational thought process that still will say it happened. Simply because they "BELIEVE" it.

FACTS DETERMINE WHAT IS FAKE. Why should I have to tell you that? It is elementary.

Use your own standards and you have some credibility.

But, to answer your question, the facts make the determination.

There is a current thread exposing a small subset of fake news ... every single example was obediently accepted by leftist members here, many of which are still defended here in spite of being proven to be fake news.

I can add additional examples if you wish.
