Saints And Chiefs Lose In Overtime. Patriots/Rams To The Superbowl

The Saints and Chiefs both lost at their home field, and respectively lost an opportunity to go to the Superbowl Game in Atlanta, Georgia. This will be Tom Brady's 9th trip to the Superbowl. He has more Superbowl Rings (5), than any quarterback. He had so much time, to throw the ball, due to his offensive line protection, that he virtually carved up the Chiefs Defense. The Chiefs never got a chance to get back on Offense in overtime. The Las Vegas odds have not been revealed. Congrats to the New England Patriots. Can the Rams handle the Patriots?

I was hoping to see the Chiefs win.
NFL overtime rules make no sense to me, one team wins coin toss and if they score TD other team doesn’t get a chance.
NCAA overtime rules are much more intelligent.

I agree...sudden death is not fair. Pretty sure the Chiefs would have won if they would have had got the ball 1st in overtime. After all they spotted the Patriots 14 points before they began playing. Chiefs were denied with this stupid sudden death rule. So were the Saints.

It use to be that if you won the coin toss, and you got close enough for a field goal, you won the game. If you do that today, the opposing team at least get to play Offense. If they score a field goal, you keep playing. Whoever gets a touchdown first, in any way, form or fashion, wins the game. In the regular season only, you can tie, if the 10 minute time clock expires. Pittsburgh Steelers.and the Cleveland Browns tied last Fall. I do like the college system overtime rules..But, the NFL won't use it. Coach Payton was told by the NFL Front Office via phone, that the referees blew that Pass Interference Call, and there was also a helmet to helmet violation against the Rams. That changed the course of the game in the final minutes. No flag. The referee claimed he didn't see the infraction. He will be called on the carpet. For sure. Incompetence?

Saints lost a heartbreaking qualifying game last year to the Vikings, on that Vikings miracle touchdown catch. And this year, another heartbreaking lost. Drew Brees, at age 41, claims he will return this upcoming season. To give it another try. Another 16+ games. That ain't easy to do.

On a local channel last week ...they showed a clip of a reporter asking the mayor of Atlanta,
"which teams would you like to see in the superbowl" ... her reply, "anybody but the saints.

On local radio this Monday morning, I hear ... 2 of the ref's were from LA and 2 were from Atlanta.

... just like politician's, ref's can be bought.

Knowing that dampens the joy of watching sports.

The NFL is observing Referees more than ever now. And continuous mistakes are no longer tolerated. Even with their strong Labor Union, they have, tthe NFL actually fired a Referee last year, because he kept screwing up. The good old days of keeping your job, no matter how bad you are .Are over. It matters not, where the Referees are from anymore.

I kind of agree. Even if the first team scores a touchdown the other team should have the opportunity to match it like in college football.
