"In early 2015, a man who runs a small technology company showed up at Trump Tower to collect $50,000 for having helped Michael Cohen, then Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, try to rig online polls in his boss’s favor before the presidential campaign.

In his Trump Organization office, Mr. Cohen surprised the man, John Gauger, by giving him a blue Walmart bag containing between $12,000 and $13,000 in cash and, randomly, a boxing glove that Mr. Cohen said had been worn by a Brazilian mixed-martial arts fighter, Mr. Gauger said.

Mr. Cohen disputed that he handed over a bag of cash. “All monies paid to Mr. Gauger were by check,” he said, offering no further comment on his ties to the consultant.

Mr. Gauger owns RedFinch Solutions LLC and is chief information officer at Liberty University in Virginia, where Jerry Falwell Jr., an evangelical leader and fervent Trump supporter, is president.

Mr. Gauger said he never got the rest of what he claimed he was owed. But Mr. Cohen in early 2017 still asked for—and received—a $50,000 reimbursement from Mr. Trump and his company for the work by RedFinch, according to a government document and a person familiar with the matter.

The reimbursement—made on the sole basis of a handwritten note from Mr. Cohen and paid largely out of Mr. Trump’s personal account.

Cohen is the proof.

"President Donald Trump's former "fixer" Michael Cohen said Thursday that he paid the head of a small technology company thousands in 2015 to rig online polls at "the direction of and for the sole benefit of" Trump.
Cohen was responding to a report in The Wall Street Journal that he paid John Gauger, the owner of RedFinch Solutions LLC, between $12,000 and $13,000 for activities related to Trump's campaign, including "trying unsuccessfully to manipulate two online polls in Mr. Trump's favor" "

"Later Thursday morning in a statement to CNN, Cohen said his actions were "at the direction of and for the sole benefit of Donald J. Trump. I truly regret my blind loyalty to a man who doesn't deserve it.""

"The new allegation comes just weeks before Cohen is set to testify before the House Oversight and Reform Committee on Feb. 7. Cohen has said he will use that opportunity to “give a full and credible account of the events which have transpired.""

So, tell me again why this is news? It's the equivalent of someone making up a "World's Best Baseball Player" coffee mug.

In other words, who cares?

If that's all you got, well, you still have nothing.

You're the one that is conflating "polls", which are usually done by professional people and are supposed to have some scientific basis along with control methodology, with "online polls" which are meaningless and "rigged" all the time; the equivalent of a "Best Politician Ever" coffee mug.

These were poles before he entered the primary that may have contributed to him becoming the candidate. For some reason many give credibility to Drudge, who was one of the recipients.

Criminals are frequently brought down at least partially on the word of criminals. They are the ones in position to know the facts. For it to be useful in court there will probably have to be corroboration. We don't know yet, but it is likely it will come. These are definitely statements against self interest, which give them some weight.
One cannot blindly take his word as fact, but his word also cannot be ignored.
