I have seen little on this topic but that doesn't mean it hasn't been done. I am submitting a couple of photos that I have done. These are not something that is special artistic or quality wise just something I came across when I went back through some old shots. Just something to do on the no moon nights.

Interesting......I like them.
I like them too. Good idea.
Wow the third one of this set is "IMHO" fantastic....
Tom
Nice. Especially the third one. Mind sharing technique, light source, camera settings?
Thanks much,
Vaughan K.
OK
As you would expect these need a tripod. For Ap I go from f8 to f16. It is usually a trial and error thing. I set my ISO at 200 because the person who showed me this set his camera there. Since this is done in the dark you need a light the get your focus and turn that on to manual otherwise the camera goes crazy. Mostly I expose for 20 or 30 sec because that is the the longest my camera will work without a timer. I very seldom need to go into b. It takes time and I delete lot. The other thing you will find is after the shutter closes you can't see the picture until the camera finishes it processing. Another thing that if fun to do a time exposure of a person and have them move out of the picture before the time runs out. This is for me another trial and error on the timing. When it is right you get a ghost shot with a person you can see right through. You have to understand you are talking to a gross amateur.
I'm sorry I left out the light source. I use just a regular flashlight. You actually use it like a paint brush as brush the area. On the bridge the flashlight did not do the job but one of those lanterns worked. I have seen this used in the daytime to highlight a area but that can also be done PP.
Thanks for the details. Good job on the pictures.

Nice work there, Spike. I’ve always wanted to try that, but I’ve never gotten around to it.
Very nice images! I especially like the lobster trap, lines and floats!
Stan
In the lobster trap I walked all around the subject with the flashlight. Of course you have to watch the the light source stays out of the picture.
The lobster trap photo caught my eye immediately. Love it!
The lighted park bench is awesome!
